"Good enough" is not in Cigarette's vocabulary--"Perfection" is.

"Quality" is a term used so often it loses impact. Not here. Each Cigarette is an expression of the owner's personality--one that states, "I only buy the best."

Cigarette sets the Platinum Standard for craftsmanship, acute attention to detail and creating a total package that defines excellence. The quality of a Cigarette flows from the top down -- the company, factory, materials, process and people are all part of the finished product of which we are proud. Each Cigarette is tested and true to its heritage.

Where a Cigarette becomes YOUR Cigarette

The creation of a Cigarette is a process in which a customer’s unique taste and preferences are brought to life via a vessel of extraordinary quality. This journey begins in an environment that quite adequately allows this passion and selection to be selected: the Cigarette Design Center.

Found at Cigarette HQ behind a semi-transparent glass door, the palette and design vocabulary of the room is one which allows the elements of a Cigarette boat to be the focus, while building on the theme of motion and dynamics. Black ceilings contrasting the white asymmetrical cubbies and daylight balance lighting. The materials displays extend seamlessly across the black marble floor, up the walls, and across the ceiling. A symbolic window lies at the far end, overlooking the factory’s assembly area.

The room immediately gives the feeling there is such pride in the uncompromising hands of expert craftsman, yet the technology which accompanies - such as a chromed cross section of a Mercury Verado powerhead - conveys an open mind to the use of cutting-edge technology. Without a word spoken, guests immediately know this is a sort of dream factory; a place where ideas are nurtured and transformed into something tangible - something to experience.

Beyond inspiring, Cigarette was determined to make this room truly functional. An artful combination of the most beautiful fabrics and the time-honored tradition of hand tailoring are mixed with a myriad of custom painted samples. Components, electronics, trim pieces, and miniature bolster seats are all able to be picked up and placed next to each other by the customer to see how the palette will look under daylight balanced light. Rather than tiny fabric samples and flat paint cards, full length and stitched upholstery samples and convex semi-spheres with Cigarette’s knuckle line are able to be placed next to each other, and moved to see how they’ll react in different lighting.

Exclusive CNC machined trim pieces, actuator arms, speakers, hinges and hardware look more like sculptures than machinery. Guests are able to grasp a Cigarette hinge and feel the difference of its smooth movement and unmistakable build quality. A true passion for the finest quality is at its core of every Cigarette and is the chief inspiration in the way raw materials are selected.

Customers are aided with their customization via the help of a dual 60” display design desk. One display can show ideas or pieces which have been picked by the customer or designer, while another shows a mirrored display of the designers active working display. This dual display method works so customers may compare various designs. With tools such as spectrometers to match favorite colors in Cigarette’s computerized paint mixing booth, and a full in house digitizing studio for embroidery of custom logos on Cigarette’s custom commissioned 3x3 meter table, working with a designer makes this process fluid and enjoyable.

The result: customers departing with the assurance that their dream boat is being built, while gaining a distinguished experience in the process. The Cigarette Design Center is the next step into the future of Cigarette and its commitment to customization and quality, and its long standing tradition, culture, and history in the quest for building customers their dreams.

The Facility Facilitates Excellence

The Cigarette factory embodies the quality behind building a Cigarette boat. Moving from its Thunderboat Row history to a newly remodeled, state-of-the-art, factory in central Miami, a revolutionary change and radical improvement occurred in Cigarette design, engineering and construction.

The Cigarette Racing Team headquarters was strategically customized to its business needs for peak efficiency, cost effectiveness, and smoothly-running operations. More like an exotic car factory than a boat yard, Cigarette takes pride in the cleanliness, order, quality and pride that surround each boat under construction.

Each step of the construction process is completed in concentric spaces that facilitate the efficient completion of each boat. The collective pride in the facility is evidenced by the care that each member of the team takes in his or her workplace, and that pride shows in each task that is completed to perfection before the boat or its components move on to the next phase. When the final product is completed, each team member mirrors the satisfaction seen in the new owner's face.

Along with a machine shop, carpentry, rigging, electrical, embroidery, and paint departments, Cigarette's factory even includes a dedicated full-sized photo studio with a seamless backdrop to ensure "picture perfect" representation of the Cigarette product. If it can be done in-house, it is, maintaining quality, time, and cost controls on each facet of the building process. Offices overlook the factory floor, enabling the totally "hands-on" management team to literally oversee production each day, and that is part of The Cigarette Difference.

We leave the ripples for the water--never on our hull.

Cigarettes are built by the finest craftsmen in the industry, for whom boat building is not just a profession, but a passion. The expertise earned over more than 40 years of custom boat building adds a value to each Cigarette that is unsurpassed by production boat companies. Finely tuning the process of constructing top-tier boats, from the molds, to fit and finish, is part of Cigarette's legacy and those skills translate into the best boat on the market.

Cigarette hulls are hand-laminated and vacuum bagged and no chopper or sprayed fiberglass guns are used, providing the highest degree of control over the surface finish and lamination quality. Delamination? Not an issue for Cigarettes.

"Made in the USA" is not just part of Cigarette Racing Team's logo, it is part of its corporate and construction philosophy. While foreign-made resins, coatings, metals, hoses and other construction materials may be cheaper, Cigarette believes in building quality INTO each boat. The company's vendors are also primarily US companies who also pride themselves in "Made in America" status. From engines, steering, or paint and coatings, to trailers and audio, outstanding industry leaders provide the components that help create every legendary Cigarette. Expensive, yes, but the value is reflected in the high re-sale value commanded by the brand, worldwide.

The work flows efficiently through a continuous process through 150,000 s.f. of contiguous space for lamination, carpentry, finishing, upholstery, rigging and electrical. Building by hand, In-house most every facet of the construction process provides the utmost in quality control and timely delivery, leaving nothing uninspected, untested or undone. Built by a team, each Cigarette is a creation--a mechanical work of art, from start to finish.

"Good enough" is NOT good enough at Cigarette. We build the best so only top-of-the-line products make it into the Cigarette factory. While the company is innovative, it is not experimental. We research and source each component and work only with reputable companies and vendors to provide the pieces that come together as your Cigarette. Each element of a Cigarette is critically evaluated before it is incorporated into the build. We use the best and pay more, but we pay more attention, building quality into each boat and value into the bottom line.

Being thorough. That IS Cigarette. Every bolt, every wire, every aspect is essential--the focus of our attention.

Cigarette has changed the definition of rigging. While most see rigging as assembly of third party products, Cigarette incorporates rigging into every aspect of construction, from lamination and engine installation to upholstery and electrical.

Assembling the mechanical components of a boat requires uncommon skill and using only the best people, tools, materials and products is Cigarette's prerequisite. The relentless attention to detail is Cigarette's pride--whether in the installation of fuel tanks and lines or the electrical wiring for the dash or engine compartment--the work will be impeccably done and repeatedly inspected by skilled, trained craftsmen.

For example, wires and cables are run through rigging tubes to keep the installation neat, secure and stable. However, in some places, flexibility is important and in others, access for service is also a concern. A clamp may need rubber protection; upholstery staples are stainless, not galvanized; lines will be closely aligned and straight so they are a safe distance from other components--and look better when the engine hatch is open. Often, you won't see the rigging details as they are the "behind the scenes" aspects of construction, but these intricacies are Cigarette's every day, utmost considerations in deciding how best to assemble the components of the boat.

The things you don't notice don't go unnoticed at Cigarette.

Standards for use or destination are also important at Cigarette. A boat going to Europe will be rigged to CE specifications while a boat in the US must meet American Boat & Yacht Council (ABYC) standards. Regardless, Cigarette will follow all regulations and finish a boat to its own extensive standards.

Though traditional powerboats are rigged differently than center consoles, the discipline and the process is the same--requiring skills and acute attention to every detail. Rigging, while not the "sexy" part of the boat, is the real "nuts and bolts." It is where technical engineering meets craftsmanship--and takes it to new dimensions. It's part of The Cigarette Difference.
